Lean Leadership: An Exclusive Group Program
Tech CEO 6-week Summer Challenge
Giving Start Up CEOs a roadmap and tools to always know what to do in any management situation, gain confidence and clarity in their leadership, and free up time to work on the most important tasks, like company strategy and fundraising
Attend these 6 meetings, follow this 1 checklist, and you’ll get results.
Hey Tech Start Up CEO’s,
Can we have an honest chat?
I see so many of you CEOs out there putting in serious work for your business, but despite the long hours and longer to do lists, you still haven’t been able to crack the, “I just never have enough time to do what’s really needed for this company” problem.
Technically speaking, you’ve done the right things. But it keeps happening.
CEOs get pulled into things that take up so much time:
A team member needs help - 1 hour
A prospect needs a little extra love - 90 minutes
A key current customer wanted to chat - 30 minutes
Forgot to prep for an upcoming board meeting - 4 hours
Product roadmap meeting on unimportant features - 2 hours
Times goes on, and CEOs don’t feel like they have a grip on their calendar to do the most important things.
So maybe, they think, if only I can go hide, I’ll get work done.
So they work really late into the night when everyone is sleeping to get the work that really matters done.
They tell themselves this is productive, normal and sustainable.
Maybe, they might think, if only I could hide at a coffee shop down the street for hours or escape to a different time zone can I get done what really needs to get done…
I regularly hear some version of this from Seed and Series A CEOs.
They are rapidly growing, all hands on deck at all times, and are super focused on key metrics. But they struggle with a handful of problems that are not just about the technicals of hitting their metrics.
CEOs feel stressed, constantly worry about how their decisions will play out and wonder what they could be missing.
They also have trouble holding their employees accountable:
They wonder if their team could move much faster but don’t know how to challenge them productively
They want to delegate more work, but don’t know how to do it so they can still have their work products turn out best
They want their leadership team to take more ownership in their work
They are afraid their team might fall apart if they needed to do things like fundraise
These are serious problems, and oftentimes they feel like they have nowhere to turn for help. Even when they have an abundance of resources, they have trouble articulating the problem and finding someone who can help them.
They know something isn’t right, and wonder if this is how the all-time greatest CEOs started.
What ends up happening is founders get overworked, overwhelmed, and unfortunately too often either slow down their output or head to burn out.
They can feel embarrassed because they don’t feel like they should have this problem, and when they don’t share or get support, they can feel totally alone.
What I’ve found among tech startup founders is that when managing teams, a lot don’t yet have the experience needed.
They are copying practices they’ve seen in the past from the outside, and that is what drives the leadership of many companies.
Oftentimes CEOs hit the ground running and do whatever it takes to build their company towards the path of growth and legitimacy. They make their first hires, and are suddenly confronted with questions around project management workflows, team collaboration, performance reviews, and company culture.
The truth is so much is dependent on its CEO and how they orchestrate the entire team to come together.
Even though most haven’t thought enough about it, for most companies it usually just ends up being the difference between success or their achilles heel.
The main point is that your leadership skills set the limit of your business, and when you hit the upper limit of how fast and effectively you're able to manage, your team’s growth pauses. At that point, you can choose to either expand your abilities or remain the same.
For a lot of founders, remaining the same isn’t good enough.
There’s Only One Thing To Worry About.
“A CEO can’t be the bottleneck to their organization’s growth.”
“Founders need every possible tool at their disposal to move forward. Multiples are getting compressed and the expectations are getting raised for the quality of a company and their team to raise capital. Only the best are getting funded right now. A CEO can't be the bottleneck to their organization's growth. This is one area CEOs need to think about including to raise their bar of sophistication and ability.
I've seen the quality of Andrew's methodologies, and while I am impressed, these are exactly the techniques that founders need to bring into their companies. Any founder would greatly benefit from having someone like Andrew supporting them.”
People can think it takes time intensive, expensive solutions.

Building a solution to fit the CEO
When this is done right, a CEO is able to be fully in control of their priorities, their team and their calendar.
They then know how to hire, manage, and implement productive teams that know what to do and have no problem doing them well.
The trained CEO knows how to delegate responsibility powerfully and feel good about what everyone is working on.
They are confident in their abilities and are focused on strategically figuring out how to scale faster and work on the problems in front of them.
This is possible. I see it everyday.
So, how do you get there?
However, those solutions above aren’t designed to help a CEO with this exact problem set.
They either:
take too much time
come across as quality information but in reality are potentially misleading towards more harm than good
leave you perplexed, wondering if it’s something relating to your situation or just a general timeless principle
Even a mentor/expert advisor isn’t trained in delivery management principles: they are, however, able to support you with expert industry knowledge.
Also former CEOs with successful exits, even if they did successfully do it themselves before, don’t have a structured program designed for CEOs to gain these skills.

LinkedIN“If I had the insights and methodologies Andrew teaches, I probably would have gone way further”.
I unfortunately didn't work with Andrew until after my company had been acquired. I wish I did. While I did have a very successful exit that I am very happy about, I know that if I had the insights and methodologies that he teaches, I probably would have gone way further. I definitely would have had a lot less time second guessing certain management decisions, and I definitely would have moved much faster, further and with more confidence.
To properly help startup CEOs, they need a high quality proven solution that fits into their schedule, takes minimum time, and delivers real impact immediately.
They don’t have time for theory for the sake of theory, and certainly no patience for mediocre quality.
They need:
high impact
highly engaging training
That gives them:
exactly what’s needed
in exactly the right dosage
at the exact right time
to affect the bottlenecks in front of them.

LinkedIN“Andrew can enable a founder to learn and execute so much faster than they would have on their own.”
Andrew is our "go to" coach for my founders’ leadership development. He has worked with many of the companies we invest in at Achari. We loop Andrew in at the Seed/Series A stage, when founders often have a shift in responsibilities to manage a growing team.
I've found that Andrew can enable a founder to learn and execute so much faster than they would have on their own - his guidance often helps founders better lead their teams. Founder development is something we prioritize and believe is worth investing time, energy and money into, as the upside is not quantifiable.

LinkedIN“Honing those leadership skills is a challenge and takes practice.”
As an early stage investor, I am typically making a bet on a founder. I am assessing whether or not they will be able to fundraise, hire a great team, build a great product, and ultimately execute on their vision. Honing those leadership skills is a challenge and takes practice. I've seen firsthand that Andrew's program and techniques drive real lasting impact. Any CEO who does this work will absolutely increase their chances of success.

LinkedIN“Our revenue has more than doubled, we've got tight control over operational costs, and have been able to implement various steps to empower staff.”
Being a CEO of a startup is hard. You often feel as though you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and are isolated on an island.
I've been fortunate to work with Andrew, and he's been vital to helping me overcome obstacles both personally and professionally. Since working together, our revenue has more than doubled, we've got tight control over operational costs, and have been able to implement various steps to empower staff. I feel I've now been able to much more easily have a clear direction on our roadmap forward. I was also able to clarify several paths towards doubling our ARR (again) in half the time we originally planned. I think that can prove to be vital to our success in our next raise. Thanks Andrew for all the help!

LinkedIN“This was all done in shockingly little time commitment .”
I truly enjoy working with Andrew. Andrew has a very deliberate, thoughtful, impactful program that allows us to hit exactly on the points that mattered, that I couldn't articulate myself very well, in a way that was always tying back to real impact in the company's growth. This was all done in shockingly little time commitment on my part. Andrew brought frameworks and accountability to grow my skills as a CEO and leader that were well done and impactful.
Just through one of Andrew's exercises, I discovered a series of insights that might never have been uncovered that resulted in a strong positive impact for our growth at Browze.
Thanks Andrew for all your help!

My Life’s Mission
What I’ve found is that I really love helping high performers succeed: the bold ones, the courageous ones that want to make a big difference, make a lot of money, and aren’t afraid to work really hard to make it happen.
While I enjoy working with such a varied group of people, I’ve found that working with tech startup entrepreneurs to be some of the most impactful work.
When they win, they win big and at scale. Not only that, but I’ve found the amount of impact and change that my programs can often have with founders at the beginning of their career to be immense. They often can pick up skills quickly that can dramatically impact the growth of their career and companies. I love that.
My mission is to build world-class business leaders.
I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. I’ve explored, researched, tested and made all the mistakes and learned how to avoid them.
Because it’s no secret that there are important problems to solve in this world, more than ever, the world needs founders to be successful to build better disruptive products - and for those founders to have the best and most effective leadership training. They need to be able to step into the visionary leaders they are destined to be.
What drives me is knowing that by helping founders it will positively impact them, their team, and everyone they interact with.
“Management is a skill and a talent that needs to be honed and worked on.”
Management is a skill and a talent that needs to be honed and worked on, and is super underrated when it comes to early stage companies where the focus tends to be execute, execute, execute.
The ability for a founder to work on themselves and to scale themselves from an early stage puts them on the right track to the long term success that we are interested in. We look to find and invest in those kinds of companies.
The skill Andrew brings to develop CEO's leadership is exactly the skill set we look for, which is bringing founders who are great at product, sales, marketing, and engineering up the curve of leadership and ultimately ability to succeed.
Here's How It Works
Here’s what you get access to in the Lean Leadership Program

“There was a piece that I knew I would struggle with: growing and leading a team of people.”
Growing a team is hard! Thankfully, we raised money from some great investors like Primary Ventures, Founder's Fund and others, and thankfully we're focused on growing a business in what we believe is a massive opportunity.
But there was a piece that I knew I would struggle with: growing and leading a team of people. I had never managed people or grown a team in this way before, and I knew that if I didn't get this right, the company's growth would falter. Andrew's methodologies and techniques have consistently delivered time and time again for me to feel confident and always know what to do in any management situation. One small example, Andrew helped me offload a lot of 1:1 conversations with team members into a system that works and is even better for the team themselves to be held accountable and to focus on their goals. This extra time has enabled me to move faster, working on the most important work, and drive the team forward further. There are countless other insights his program has unlocked.
I'm so glad I did this, I can't imagine where we would be without having this support. We obviously plan to grow a lot, and having these skills before the stakes are hopefully raised exponentially I know will make all the difference.
Only 6 Spots
Because of the high degree of guidance and feedback that I offer in this program
I limit enrollment to a maximum of 6 spots
Once the 6 spots are filled, enrollment will close.
Not For Everyone
Lean Leadership is only for those who are serious about changing their leadership and management for their companies.
You have to be ready to attend the calls and put in the work. Yes, the course is designed so it’s only the minimum work needed for results, and yes the work is only there to improve your business. Nevertheless, if you don’t think you can at least commit to a weekly call, this is not the right program for you.
I’ve created a simplified, accelerated “lean” system, but nothing comes without putting in the effort.
I also want to be sure that everyone will be a valuable asset to the group. We all have knowledge, ideas, connections, experience, and expertise that other can benefit from.
Your next step is to consider if you want to move forward.
As mentioned, people might think the solution to this problem needs to be:
-
A Full-time MBA
$150,000 tuition
-
Full day facilitated workshops
$5,000/day
-
Online Social Media Training

“I am now prioritizing and addressing problems at their source.”
As a founder of a start-up, I’m extremely busy building a business with lots of different directions I am being pulled in. Before coming to Andrew, I constantly felt like a firefighter, constantly getting pulled into challenges and being a bit overwhelmed with concentrated effort totally forgetting about other priorities. I was left feeling like I would never get the things that mattered done.
Now, he’s enabled me to think and act like a dispatcher. I am now prioritizing and addressing problems at their source. I am now level-headed and focused on my quarterly and annual goals and most importantly clear headed and focused to grow this company. Thank you Andrew!

LinkedIN“Through some really hard work, and deliberate adjustments, we hit the $20M.”
I came in knowing the power of executive coaching, so there was a lot to live up to! Andrew was incredibly adaptable and came into my nuanced circumstances with ease and willingness that was both touching and effective! Andrew delivered some really great exercises and perspectives around leadership, management, and personal development that were an assist in a number of ways and really helped me think through a lot of critical situations.
We all know that revenue growth optics are critical to your startup. Through his program I realized we totally should push for our next optical jump that I questioned was possible: $20M. To do that, I needed to dramatically shift my management approach to one of our directors. Andrew's tools helped with this. Through some really hard work, and deliberate adjustments, we hit it. There were a lot of factors involved to make that happen, but Andrew definitely helped challenge me in my leadership in a way that helped me unlock what was possible. He's like an extension of your team! Thanks, Andrew.

I was on the brink of truly burning out several times. I had feelings of imposter syndrome. The techniques in Andrew's program truly prevented me from going crazy. If you have feelings of self doubt or imposter syndrome, I would 100% work with Andrew.
I've been exposed to many high quality self development programs over the years, and I would place him to be right up there with them. I also do have an incredible network of supportive and extremely experience advisors/founders, but Andrew's program gave me an edge that my advisor network couldn't give me when it came to a structured program and accountability.

Frequent Questions & Comments
CEOs can often have questions and comments they want to think through before committing their time, energy and resources:
-
If you put in the work, you will get results. I know this because it’s a proven methodology time and time again. We’ve spent countless hours testing, adjusting and streamlining techniques and programs so only the most effective curriculum is used. We’ve spent years diving into the mindset of a CEO and how to understand what it takes for not only short term rapid improvement but also long term impact, happiness and success.
We don’t need lengthy off-site workshops, endless training seminars, or even spending time with your team to have radical improvement in your ability to lead and manage in a much more powerful way. There is a time and place for those tools, and Seed/Series A start-ups don’t need them to capitalize on massive low hanging fruit.
If this program is resonating with you, that means that this will work.
-
Although this work can be hard to measure, it has immediate felt effects. Even if a founder claims this program alone enabled their annual revenue to increase by $500,000/year, there are still other major impacts that happened. It’s flat out hard to measure!
Well known executive coach Patrick Lencioni mentions in his book Advantage 3 biases why CEOs of Fortune 500 companies don’t take this work as seriously as they should. In brief, there is (1) a sophistication bias, (2) an adrenaline bias, and (3) a quantification bias.
(1) The sophistication bias is that the more complex something is, the higher quality it must be. (2) the adrenaline bias is that the more action packed and urgent an activity is, the higher quality it must be. (3) the quantification bias is the more easily measured an activity is, the higher quality it must be for the business.
The bias towards quantification is real, but experience proves this work is highly impactful.
The primary way we measure success is through founder’s satisfaction (testimonials) and continued company growth. Company growth metrics is something we value highly as a focus point for how we can define successful impact over time.
-
Let me attempt to rephrase this question to what I often hear. Then, I’ll directly answer this important questions: Andrew, you’ve never sold your unicorn company for over $1B, and you’re not a HBS professor.
What I would point out to you is first to notice someone’s trust and assumption that academic professors or tech billionaires understand the moving parts of how to affect organizational change at a start-up. I’ve worked with academics before, and oftentimes they are more experienced in theory. I’ve actually also worked with successful tech billionaires before, and although they might have done it themselves, they not only have trouble explaining what they did, but they aren’t currently structured to take the time to understand a company like yours, right now - like today, and hold their hand each step of the way.
The Lean Leadership Methodology is grounded in real founders improving their leadership. It’s designed exactly for tech startup CEOs at Seed/Series A size.
That’s why someone like me.
Why me?
I’ve done the work, I have some great results, with a proven methodology.
-
Enrolling in this program will SAVE you a lot of time.
There’s no way around it. When you go the do-it-yourself route, you inevitably end up losing time going down dead-end paths and dealing with unexpected consequences.
When you have an experienced guide, you get results much faster. I’ve worked with people who wasted years trying to advance their leadership, but once they finally invested in working with me their leadership improved dramatically and in short order.
-
While the Lean Leadership Method is not cheap and is still an investment, it pales in comparison to NOT JUST alternative approaches like a corporate consultant ($50,000+), self training (100’s of hours of trial and real impactful error), or hiring an employee like a Chief of Staff who isn’t even really trained in this area ($120,000+/-), BUT ALSO the missed opportunities costs.
I’ve worked with founders who have previously struggled with the following:
Failure to raise additional capital because of a lack of time ($1M+ missed opportunity cost)
Employees not empowered to think critically and therefore a lack of innovation from them - as opposed to one of my clients where one employee realized an untapped opportunity to 2x SaaS revenue ($1M in revenue, $10M+ lifetime value)
Again - if you’ve made it this far, that means that this program resonates with you and your needs. That means this program will probably help you dramatically. I do this work because I know that I can make a difference with CEOs. The results from this program are not binary, there are many ways people get massive value.
-
CEOs of startups are a unique kind of person in this world. They want to take it all on themselves and the crazy part is they can probably do a pretty damn good job at it. But, they can only be so focused and dialed in on good enough that they can miss massive opportunities in front of them with their leadership and management skills
Which is better?
Good enough on your own (hoping it actually is good enough and you didn’t terribly miss something)
Excellence from the experts (confidence that you have it all locked)
You work hard every day to build something, whether it’s because of the impact, the prospect of being the CEO of a big company, or the potential financial upside.
I get the need to tell yourself, “it’s just easier to keep doing it myself” and not seek guidance in management.
But the stakes are too high.
Your team is going to be growing, expectations are exponentially increasing, hopefully.
It’s ok to tell yourself, “It’s easier to just keep trying to improve my management and skills myself. I know what I need to build, let me keep trying to make it happen.”
And you may just do that, provide some impact to your team, possibly from some of the insights you’ve even learned from my newsletter. And you might even be totally successful!
But, how fast do you want to go? How sure are you that your leadership won’t have unintended long term consequences that negatively impact your team? Or even that you could have become even more successful.
If you’re thinking of improving your management on your own, I invite you to consider how much faster a high quality training like this could do for you and your team if you brought in the experts.
I invite you to bring the support your company needs to continue scaling fast, and not have to worry about exploration and testing of how to be the best manager. Instead, reserve that attention for your company’s core product.
-
People committed to a program are more likely to do the work and therefore get better results. So if you’re not sure whether this is a good fit, don’t enroll in the program. Check in with yourself. How does the idea of enrolling in this program feel? If you’re at the intersection of excited and nervous, that’s a good sign!
If you have any questions about if you think you’d be a good fit, you can send an email to info@andrewelliotstern.com. I’ll answer your questions and let you know if I think this is the best next step for you.
This program is designed to be the first serious structured step for a Seed and Series A tech startup CEO. If that is you and you have challenges in your leadership, this is probably the best next step for you. If the messaging didn’t 100% resonate above, this program can probably still massively impact your company.
If you’re seriously considering doing this program, you can email info@andrewelliotstern.com, you will get a reply within 24 hours.
-
In short, this program is definitely the best next step for you if you’re a start-up interested in moving fast and having rapid impact. While a 2 year training intensive program could benefit you, getting down the most foundational principles and applying them to your leadership in this way first I have seen is always the best next step.
That means rapid skill building of essential tools, and then building on that. That mean this is not reading a full textbook and only then applying those skills.
If appropriate at the end of the workshop, we can explore further options. However, this program really is designed to give you massive value that will give you tools and skills for life.
-
“Everything is streamlined, we have a plan, we’re growing, our investors are happy, and we’re super focused on a couple goals this quarter. I’m in my groove. Why shake things up?”
I’m setting the bar high with this course. And that bar is much higher than settling for what you have. I work with entrepreneurs that are out to make a massive impact in the world and to make a lot of money while doing it. A lot of them are doing extremely well. Their metrics are great. AND they want to up-level their leadership skills.
If that isn’t you, and you’re looking to cruise, that is totally and absolutely ok. This just isn’t the program for you.
I will say that I’ve worked with a lot of people that have been ok with their pace and things have been great, but they just need a little push to up their game. That little push could have a massive upside.
So if all you need is a push, then here it is: you’re better than this! Come join an amazing program that is designed to totally up level your leadership. Hit the apply button and let’s get you started.

That’s totally ok if you don’t think now is the right time.
As you consider if now is the right time, I invite you to think about both the real impacts your current leadership skills are having in your organization and the possible outcomes if those skills were transformed. What would that enable to happen?
Venture backed startups by definition have the stakes being raised indefinitely. Now is always the time to bring on leadership skills where mistakes being made have much less impact.
We only want to work with CEOs that want to commit to doing this program.
-
Yes. The program is designed for all industries.
-
“Will this signal to my investors, advisors and circle of trusted friends that I’m having trouble and am incapable of managing my team?”
While I understand this entirely when CEOs say this to me, I respond quite strongly that your investors should be overjoyed that you’re taking this training. I also refer you to the testimonials of venture capitalists above.
Most tech startup CEOs are not seasoned business executives with decades of experience managing executives and managers. And the ones that are, shouldn’t be doing this program. This is a great opportunity to share with investors that you are in a management training program. I’ve found that when CEOs confidently share the programs that they are in and have accomplished, it gives investors a sense of security and trust in your ability to execute on your vision and gain the skills you need to.
I definitely get that you want your investor to think that you have everything together all the time, but if your investor wants to look down on leadership training, then they might not be an investor you want to impress.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen CEOs pushed out of their role because their investors haven’t felt confident in their ability to lead the team. These are hard situations to say the least. Lean Leadership is designed to focus on empowering and training CEOs so that they can be the ones to take their vision from first steps to actualization.
-
Yes! Bring it on! This program has been tried and tested.
For specific dedicated individualized support needed, there are personalized, confidential channels for guidance on any tricky situations. You won’t be the only one.
-
This program is the result of years of iteration, testing, exploration, etc. This is a proven system that will get results. Each participant gets different results based on effort, willingness to test new things, and of course their individual company circumstances.
But, this is tried and tested. This will move your leadership forward.
If this question is important to you, it sounds like you tried to improve your team before, but you didn’t get the results you wanted. Maybe you’re thinking, “I’m different,” or “my team is different?” Or “How can you change my team, I just have this employee who is so difficult who I can’t fire or change?”
Are any of these your current plan towards your leadership problems?
Keep focusing on goals (do nothing) and hope it gets better
Be overly alert and attentive to your team
Have pump up meetings to get the team more motivated
Increase pay
Be more controlling
"I tried something like this before, but it didn't work."
I would encourage you to be open and ask yourself to think and consider if what this program is presenting will actually make an impact for you? For everyone that is reading this far into the sales page, the answer is yes.
In my experience, the real question is whether you trust your decision making.
I would also invite you to consider the worst case scenario: a program investment not fully capitalized.
I will say that this program can only have an impact if you’re open and willing to invest time and energy into what can be possible for your team. If you apply, make sure that this is something you’re open to investing your time and energy into. If this is for you, I’m looking forward to helping you have a really successful program together despite past roadblocks!
-
I’ve sat with founders ready to sell for any price with just a little bit of traction because they’ve been so burnt out and not confident in their ability to go for 5 more years. While I definitely respect any decision a founder makes, I will say that working through the exercises and methodologies has enabled a lot of “burnt out” founders to reclaim their power, their original mission. With new tools and a new found confidence, they have gone on to continue to grow their companies.
If you once had that passion, and now find yourself having trouble getting excited about more responsibilities, more investor dollars, and a bigger team, this program can be a great way to entirely flip your approach to your business.
-
Confidentiality is a very important value that this program holds in the highest regard.
All program participants sign NDA agreements to enter the program. However, at the end of the day, you only share what you’re comfortable sharing. Participants can go through this entire program and not share anything confidential without a problem.
To gain the benefits of the group of other CEOs, ultimately a level of sharing of seeking perspectives is needed. With that comes sharing potentially sensitive information about your company. Our policy is to encourage CEO participants to share management related challenges - which is what the program is about - and to be extremely careful sharing any compromising information.
I will point out how common it is for CEO mastermind groups to openly share in an environment of trust and support.
-
I will record all of the calls so you don’t miss a thing. You can send questions to me in advance if you know you won't be on a call.
-
I’ll provide multiple ways to download and save the materials during the course. At the end of the program, I’ll give you a link that has all the materials in one easy-to-download location so you can refer back to them.
-
Yes. But, this is a limited program. Right now, there are no future dates planned.
-
You will have access to the course platform for a year and can download all of the program materials, so even if life happens, you still get the full value of the program. If the disruption in your life is significant, please contact me. I’ll work with you to ensure you get what you need.

“You owe it to yourself to consider working with Andrew.”
I never thought of myself as someone who would consider coaching, but a close friend suggested I speak to Andrew. In our time working together, we identified mental blocks, mechanism and patterns that were limiting my performance. I know this is a bit abstract, but I don't think I have room for an essay!
This clarity of direction, purpose, and awareness of my own subconscious habits become invaluable.
On a tactical note, Andrew went above and beyond helping my team with a year-end workshop / visioning exercise that was immensely powerful. I don't know where I would be otherwise based on the outcomes of that workshop Andrew helped me initiate and orchestrate.
I can't say enough good things about my time working with Andrew. I think if you’re an ambitious, high-performance entrepreneur who is focused on self-growth and development, you owe it to yourself to consider working with Andrew.
